DR. ANDREAS VON IMHOFF (born 1948) studied musicology,
theatre and art history, concluding with a doctoral
thesis on Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s works
for piano.
After freelancing for EMI during his studies,
he then worked for 8 years in classical music
marketing and distribution for EMI Germany before
he was called into EMI's headquarter as first
classical Marketing Manager for EMI Classics worldwide.
He returned to Germany in 1991.
Von Imhoff worked for EMI for a total of 27 years
in different posts in Germany and abroad. Apart
from specializing in classical music, he also
worked in international marketing, in the European
logistics group and in administration. His last
job there was in “non-traditional business”,
and from 1998 to 2003 he directed EMI Germany’s
classical music department.
In 2004 Andreas von Imhoff founded his own firm
“Avi Service for music”, focussing
on providing services for classical musicians
and their labels. In partnership with the various
distribution partners worldwide, he now oversees
the specialized distributor JA KLA, offering a
series of jazz and classical labels for the worldwide
markets.
Since April 2005 Andreas von Imhoff has been
releasing hand-selected productions on his own
classical music label “CAvi music”,
with a special emphasis on chamber music productions
and on young talents.
In 2009 he started the label SoloVoce (www.solovoce.com)
for operatic projects and in 2012 the sublabel
CAvi-Musica-Autentica, which ensembles performances
based on period instruments.
